Description

I dunno about the category lol

ANYWAYS... This is the banner for the designs I will be coloring and uploading later today! I have until 10 so I have to work kind of fast lol. This is showing the basic concept. I also have a story to it which I will put in the description when I'm on my laptop which actually has the word file.

Basically, the idea was Royal Chickens (it sounds funny I know) and the quote is from "Animal Farm". The story behind the banner explains that. I've never read it myself, but I got the story from friends who did read it and I thought that the quote was fitting.

Story:

“Honey?” said Cutie, dusting off the cover of an old book. They had been sifting through piles of dusty old books, looking for inspiration. They could not believe this year’s idea for the parade was walking with banners. It seemed ridiculous. At least they had already centered on the idea of a bird theme for the outfits. Snow geese to look elegant at the interviews, then a matching Rooster and Hen concept for an eye-catching look during the parade. They were sure their looks would be brilliant on the tributes. They’d be sure to make District 10 proud.

“WHAT?!” Cutie’s partner was less than excited about the dust from old books. She’d forgotten to get her allergy treatment for the month because she was so busy in the Capitol’s finest library, looking through fairy tales. Yet, now the purple and pink haired fiend that was her partner in design had dragged her into a less used section, reserved only for the use of the Capitol’s elite. Usually this meant those involved in the government or the games. There were few exceptions, and even as designers gaining access to this section meant years of experience.

“I found this book. Look at the title!” Cutie exclaimed with glee. Honey leaned over to peer at the faded cover.

“Animal Farm? You think we’ll find good quotes in this for our banner?” the brunette asked.

“I’m sure we will!” Cutie said.

The two spent hours in the library after finding that book, interested in the story of the revolt the animals conducted, and the failure then after. While the two failed to fully comprehend the meaning behind the story, it was not completely lost on them. They saw the similarities of how the Capitol had been the humans and the pigs and the districts of Panem were the other animals of the farm, taken advantage of and reduced to the lowest class of being. They wrote down quotes for their banner, recognizing the power behind the words.

The next time they visited however, they were dismayed. The book was nowhere to be found. Honey ran to the front desk, trying to talk through violent sneezes. Cutie joined her and finished the question.

“Where has the book ‘Animal Farm’ gone? It was in the restricted section in the back?” she asked.

“Oh, dear. Well, we got a visit from the President’s secretary yesterday. Very scary woman, probably got surgery to get her features looking as sharp as that. She looks exactly like a crow, if you ask me. Anyway, she comes storming in here furiously saying that the President had noticed a book or two in here that was supposed to be in his private collection for his eyes only.

“She went straight to the back, picked up some books, and deleted them from our records. I only managed to catch a few of the titles, and that book was one of them. If I were you, I’d stay tight-lipped about whatever was in that book. What it had to say apparently got our government in a serious panic for a moment.” The librarian looked around herself quickly, then leaned forward to whisper something to the girls.

“You’re lucky the heads of the Capitol don’t think much of the designers. Think your brains are about the size of peas, I’m sure. If they think you understood a word in those pages and if you weren’t already such invaluable icons for the games, I’m sure the books wouldn’t be the only things they were after.”

Cutie and Honey gave each other a frightened glance before hustling out of the library as discreetly as possible. They didn’t return for a few days until they absolutely needed to again, but it was still months before they returned to the restricted section. They decided to still use the quotes, in the slightest defiance of the Capitol their cowardly selves could muster, but they did this with the knowledge that they would have to act even more foolish and bubble-headed than usual.
